Advocacy

Make vision health a national priority.

Lighthouse Guild engages local, state and federal policy makers to raise awareness of the need for access to vision rehabilitation services, and advocates for appropriate legislative responses to issues affecting people with vision loss.

Legislative advocacy for vision loss can be as simple as showing support or voicing concern for public policy initiatives related to vision loss and research. To do this, we may ask you to reach out to your elected representatives with a phone call, email, or letter.

One of the most effective ways to ensure that your voice is heard is by exercising your right to vote. If you’re not registered to vote, these resources can help:

  • For New York residents, the New York State Board of Elections offers a downloadable, mail-in registration form, as well as information on getting an absentee ballot.
  • For residents of most other states, the Rock the Vote site offers information and downloadable voter registration forms.
