Joseph A. Ripp retired as Executive Chairman of Time Inc. in July 2017. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Time Inc. During his tenure as CEO, he laid the foundation for Time Inc.’s transition into a multimedia company, including the relocation of Time Inc.’s headquarters to Lower Manhattan.
Mr. Ripp first joined Time Inc. as Assistant Comptroller in 1985 and was elevated to Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer in 1993. After leaving Time Inc., he served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Time Warner Inc. from 1999 to 2001, until he became CFO and then subsequently Vice Chairman of America Online. After leaving Time Warner in 2004, he was President and COO of Dendrite International. Then from 2008 until 2010, he served as Chairman of Journal Register Co. until a partnership with GTCR formed Cannondale Investments. In 2012, GTCR and Cannondale Investments acquired OneSource Information Services, Inc. and Mr. Ripp became its CEO.
Mr. Ripp is Vice Chairman of the Board of Lighthouse Guild and former Chairman of Lighthouse International. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Manhattan College and the Board of Directors of the Advertising Educational Foundation. He also serves as Emeritus Director of the Ad Council. He was a member of the boards of Greenfield Online, Whittle Communications and American Express Publishing.
Mr. Ripp holds an MBA from the Bernard M. Baruch College of the City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts from Manhattan College.
