Stories about Our Volunteers

Our volunteers contribute more than 8,000 hours of service annually and are critical to the work we do at Lighthouse Guild to help people every day lead more productive, dignified and fulfilling lives.

They are event planners, students, lawyers, former teachers, retired business people. Our volunteers read (sometimes dramatically), they help people seek work, they assist people in filing taxes and forms for benefits, they demonstrate technological devices, they lead exercise groups, they mentor teenagers, they counsel adults, they dream up ideas for events and identify potential fundraising support. Some volunteers have been inspired by family members with visual impairments. Some themselves may have had the experience of a visual impairment or other disability. They are the 700 volunteers of Lighthouse Guild.

Some started working with Lighthouse Guild relatively recently, others for as long as a quarter century. Some received services or sought contributions for the organization when they were children. What they all have in common is a desire to provide services and enrichment to people with visual impairments.

Lighthouse Guild would not be Lighthouse Guild without the dedication of volunteers like Dawn, Herbert, Jailine, Jennifer, José, Joseph, Lois, Mark, Mary, Michael, Sandra, and Stephanie.
