Description of Services:

New York City Department of Education, District 75 provides highly specialized instructional support for students with significant challenges, such as autism spectrum disorders, significant cognitive delays, emotional disturbances, sensory impairments, and multiple disabilities. District 75 provides instructional support in a wide variety of settings and locations around New York City with small student:teacher ratios, as well as students in full inclusion. For students with significant hearing and vision loss, District 75 also has self-contained classes with specialized equipment and services. Students whose vision and hearing concerns do not require such intensive programming receive these support services in a District 1-32 school. Additional services include home and hospital instruction, bilingual instruction and support, English as a new language, travel training, personal activities of daily living skills training, vocational programming, transition service coordination, and parent counseling and training. For students with severe hearing or vision loss, special classes and services include audiology, assistive technology, sign language interpretation, orientation and mobility services, and Braille.
