U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center, VA Connecticut Healthcare System
As part of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, the Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center (BRC) serves as a residential inpatient program providing comprehensive resources to teach rehabilitation skills to veterans with vision loss throughout Connecticut. The Eastern BRC offers a variety of skill courses to help these veterans achieve a realistic level of independence. Veterans can learn orientation and mobility skills, communication skills, activities of daily living, manual skills, visual skills, and computer access training, and also engage in social and recreational activities. Individual counseling and group therapy sessions are also available to assist veterans who are making emotional and behavioral adjustments to vision loss.
