Southeastern Blind Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama is part of Blind Rehabilitation Centers (BRC) for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. BRCs are residential inpatient programs that offer a variety of skill courses to help blind veterans achieve a realistic level of independence. These skill areas include orientation and mobility, communication skills, activities of daily living, manual skills, visual skills, computer access training, and social/recreational activities. Through individual counseling sessions and group therapy, veterans receive assistance making emotional and behavioral adjustments to blindness.
